it ain’t happening

tried to take a pic of my
in-progress pastel figural extravaganza
but camera batteries dead.

tried to upload a Crafty Bastards banner
to promote the arts&crafts&craziness that is
happening this very saturday in Adams Morgan
but blogger refused.

maybe it’s too late for technology…
maybe i inhaled too much powder blue pastel dust…
maybe rocked out too hard to Patti Smith’s Horses..

who knows,
“oh well whatever nevermind”

dynamicat & the electric butterfly

so last night i stayed in and focused energy on
music, painting & reading tom robbins…
well one thing lead to another and before i knew it,
i was kitten-sitting my neighbor’s cat Napoleon
our appt. was a world of discoveries for him
and he was a ball of energy & companionship to me
we bonded on my windowsill
both of us curiously staring outwards..

the highlight of the evening was when he
effortlessly scampered right up my ladder…

i’ve been working on my butterfly again.

site specific

the ocean played a big part in my weekend…
it dazzled me, kicked my ass and relaxed me…
it reminded me of how unconcerned nature can be with our petty affairs
it just keeps on keepin’ on…

rehoboth beach was recently “nourished”
by pumping tons of sand from out in the ocean
trying to re-build the coast line…
men fighting off what cannot be stopped..

this has created a sharp slope down to the water
which has affected the wave patterns
causing them to slam into the slope
where all of the debris stirred up by the pumping collects
and stir it all up into a boiling frenzy…

this is hell for bodysurfing, but totally fun
you catch a wave that lifts you up,
taunting you with moment of flight
you are one with the sun & blue sky

then you are swept into the ocean’s aggression
and slammed down in a foaming fury
slick skin run ragged over rock & shell
till bloody and gasping you are tossed to shore
as the ocean goes about its business
